Some Important Verbs

 Finite verb (সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া): Act as the main verb and can be changed according to the noun. Finite verb forms show tense, person, and number. If there is just one verb in a sentence, that verb is finite. A finite verb can stand by itself in a sentence. Finite verbs are sometimes called main verbs. 

যে Verb দ্বারা কোন Sentence এর বক্তব্য সম্পন্ন হয় এবং Subject এর Number, Person ও Tense অনুসারে যার রুপ নির্ণীত হয়, তাকে Finite verb বলে। Person ও Number দ্বারা এ verb সীমাবদ্ধ । 

যেমনঃ Mehreen goes to college every day. They went to market. He eats rice. 

#এখানে 'goes' এবং 'went' verb দুটি দ্বারা sentence এর সম্পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশ পাচ্ছে এবং Subject এর Number, Person ও Tense অনুযায়ী verb দুটির রুপ পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে । 

Finite verb চেনার উপায়ঃ 

Am, is, are, was, were মূল verb হিসাবে বসলে । 

Base form এবং Past form of verbs. 

s/es যুক্ত verbs. Primary এবং Modal Auxiliary verb সমূহ । 

Non-finite verb (অসমাপিকা ক্রিয়া): A non-finite verb is a verb form that does not show tense. In other words, you cannot tell if a sentence is in the past tense, present tense, or future tense by looking at a non-finite verb. Therefore, a non-finite verb is never the main verb in a sentence. 

যে Verb দ্বারা বাক্যের অর্থের সমাপ্তি ঘটে না এবং Subject এর Number, Person ও Tense অনুযায়ী যার রুপ নির্ণীত হয় না, তাকে Non-finite verb বলে । 

#Non-finite verb কে Infinitive verb ও বলা যায় । এটা তিন রকম । যথাঃ Participle, Gerund, Infinitive 

Participle: Verb এর যে রুপ একইসাথে verb এবং adjective এর কাজ করে, তাকে Participle বলে । যেমনঃ 1. She is singing a song. 2. I saw him playing cricket. 3. The drama was interesting. 

Gerund: Verb এর সাথে ing যুক্ত হয়ে যে রুপ একইসাথে verb এবং noun এর কাজ করে, তাকে Gerund বলে । যেমনঃ 1. His hobby is reading novels. 2. They enjoyed playing cricket. 3. Swimming is a good exercise. 

Infinitive: মূল verb এর পুর্বে to যুক্ত হয়ে Infinitive গঠিত হয় । যেমনঃ 1. To walk in the morning is good for health. 2. She went to market to buy a bag. 

Quasi Passive Verb: Quasi অর্থ Half বা অর্ধেক । সুতরাং, Quasi Passive অর্থ Half passive এবং Half Active. অর্থাৎ, যে সকল Verb দেখতে Active মনে হলেও অর্থগতভাবে Passive, তাকে Quasi Passive Verb বলে । যেমনঃ Honey tastes sweet. 

Linking Verb / Copulative (সংযোজক ক্রিয়া): A linking verb connects the subject with a word that gives information about the subject, such as a condition or relationship. For example, in the sentence "They are a problem," the word "are" is the linking verb that connects "they" and "problem" to show the relationship between the two words. The most common linking verbs are forms of the verb to be: am, is, are, was, were, being, been. 

যে সকল Intransitive Verb নিজে বাক্যের অর্থ সম্পূর্ণ করতে পারে না, অতিরিক্ত শব্দ বা শব্দসমূহের সাহায্য নিয়ে বাক্যের অর্থ সম্পূর্ণ করে তাদেরকে Linking Verb / Copulative বলে । অন্য ভাবে বলা যায়, যে সকল Verb তার পূর্ববর্তী ও পরবর্তী অংশকে সংযুক্ত করে এবং একই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে নির্দেশ করে, তাকে Linking Verb / Copulative বলে । যেমনঃ They were helpless. Linking Verbs: Am, is, are, was, were, look, remain, become, seem, appear, prove, taste, turn, go, smell, grow, feel etc. 

Causative Verb (প্রযোজক ক্রিয়া): যে Verb এর Subject নিজে সরাসরি কাজ করে না, অপরকে দিয়ে কাজটি করিয়ে নেয় তাকে Causative Verb বলে । Examples of causative verbs include (make, cause, allow, help, have, enable, keep, hold, let, get, force, and require), which can also be referred to as causal verbs or simply causatives. যেমনঃ I had my hair cut yesterday. / They had their car repaired. 

 Reflexive Verb: যে Verb এর Subject এবং Object একই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে নির্দেশ করে তাকে Reflexive Verb বলে । অন্য কথায়, Reflexive Pronoun কোন Verb এর Object রুপে বসলে তাকে Reflexive Verb বলে । যেমনঃ The man killed himself. 

Cognate Verb (সমধাতুজ ক্রিয়া): যে Verb এর Object ঠিক তার রুপ থেকেই হয়, তাকে Cognate Verb বলে । যেমনঃ 1. She sang a song. 2. He dreamt a bad dream. 3. Bolt ran a race. # সাধারণত dream, run, sing, sleep, fight, laugh, sigh ইত্যাদি Verb গুলি Cognate Verb হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয় । 

Impersonal Verb: যে Verb এর উৎস বর্ণিত হয় না এবং Subject রূপে ‘It’ ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাকে Impersonal Verb বলে । যেমনঃ 1. It rains. 2. It is winter.
